The Nevada State Firefighters' Association, Inc., in 1992, officially established a Burn Fund to help victims of burn related injuries. The physical and emotional trauma of burns can be devastating not only to the victim, but to the victim's family and friends.
The Nevada State Firefighters' Association’s recognition of the devastating impact of burn related injuries provided a need for the establishment of a Burn Fund.

The association’s Burn Fund, established by resolution number 3-9192, provides financial assistance to eligible citizens and members of the association. Funding is provided through interest earned on association investments, donations, and through an annual auction of a revolving picture donated by the Douglas County Engine Company.

All applications for financial assistance must be made through a member department acting as a sponsoring department. A review committee, established to oversee the collection and disbursement of funds, consists of the association president, secretary, and one member of the board of directors, appointed by the president.

Upon receipt of an application, the review committee will meet and render a decision within thirty (30) days. Fund disbursements are limited to annual allocations per individual of $1,500. Disbursements may be limited to fund balances at the time of application. A minimum fund balance of $3,000 must be maintained at all times.

Financial assistance received may be applied to direct medical expense for the victim, emotional support, family support, and other similar uses acceptable to the review committee.

The Nevada State Firefighters' Association stands ready to assist those touched by the impact and tragedy of burn related incidents.

For more information, or assistance, regarding this fund please contact association Executive Director, Mike Heidemann at (775) 857-4800.
