The Nevada State Firefighters Association proudly presents the NSFA Hawthorne Training Symposium, a two-day training event featuring four classes: live fire, hazmat, wildfire, and fireground medicine.
This symposium is hosted by Mineral County Fire & EMS and will take place in Hawthorne, Nevada. It is open to all Nevada fire and EMS personnel, who are invited to train together, sharpen operational skills, and earn certifications and CEUs.

Training Schedule & Course Highlights
☢️ Hazmat Incident Commander – Friday & Saturday, 8 AM – 5 PM
This is a state-certified, 16-hour course that runs over both days. You must attend both Friday and Saturday to receive the certificate.
🔥 Car Burn Prop – Friday & Saturday, 8 AM – 5 PM
This is hands-on live-fire training on the Nevada State Fire Marshal’s propane car burn prop, running all day on both days.
All firefighters participating in the Car Burn Prop live-fire training MUST complete the Live Fire Accountability Form, have it signed by their chief, and submit it prior to training.
🏡 Wildfire Risk Assessment – 4 Hours
Learn how to assess homes for wildfire risk and give homeowners recommendations that reduce the risk to the whole community.
Offered: Friday 8 AM – 12 PM or Saturday 1 PM – 5 PM
🚑 Medical Emergency on the Fire Ground – 4 Hours
This course is approved for EMS CEU hours. It covers basic medical operations on the fire ground, including firefighter cardiac arrest management.
Offered: Friday 1 PM – 5 PM or Saturday 8 AM – 12 PM

Registration is per person and includes access to all scheduled training sessions over the two-day symposium, plus dinner on Friday and Saturday. Register online or by mail.
