The NSFA is pulling out all the stops this year after two years of not being together. With the help of our dedicated vendors, we are able to offer the membership a full registration for only $50.00 including lunches and dinners. Virginia City is always a great place to get together so register quick, as rooms are limited.

As always, we will have the manipulative skills competition, water fights and monkey drills. Fun activities will be golf, trap shoot and horseshoes. Rumor also has it that a couple of cornhole tournaments are in the works.

Classroom Training

5 Rights of the First Line – Hortons & Hunt

In the fire service, when it comes to suppression, we have a lot of grey area in the way we do business. We use terms like “situationally dependent” and “every fire is different.” The reason we use these terms is because they are true. We have an ever evolving and incredibly dynamic battlefield where too many hard rules limit the ability for thinking firefighters to find solutions to unique problems. Unfortunately, terms like these also give our less motivated firefighters a cop-out when it comes to possessing practical and applicable job knowledge. Even worse, it fails to provide a framework for younger, less-experienced firefighters to reference when their time comes on the nozzle.

8 -hour Hazmat Awareness certification class – Nevada State Fire Marshal Division

ICS & ISO – Ralph & Mike

Are you aware of new requirements and how they can affect your operation, community impressions and funding opportunities? This presentation will address the basics on both subjects and how you can be the best you can be for your community.

Past President Sgt. Ben Jenkins

To all the members of the Nevada State Firefighter Association, it is with a heavy heart I inform you that we have lost a true American hero today. Past President Sgt. Ben Jenkins was gunned down in the line of duty this morning during an attempt to assist a motorist. Some of you may have known him as a volunteer firefighter, director, president and Past President of our board, but he was also a state trooper with the Nevada Highway Patrol, as well as a veteran of our armed forces, he was a true public servant.

Ben was involved in the great outdoors and enjoyed helping handicapped individuals by taking them on hunting trips among other activities. He really loved and was passionate about his hunting, fishing, boating, camping and
spending time with friends and friends.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, children, grandchildren & family during this unimaginable time.

You will be in our thoughts and part of our story forever Ben.

Rest In Peace my friend

Mark Flesher
President
Nevada State Firefighters Association
